Cables developed for SPE
Ideal for Industry 4.0 and smart buildings
Sep 26, 2022
Single-Pair Ethernet (SPE) enables the continuous transmission of data via Ethernet at up to 1 gigabit per second (Gbit/s) and with ranges of up to 1000 metres via a single pair of cables. Datwyler – a member of the SPE Alliance – now offers the first SPE products for structured premises cabling and building automation. Solid and flexible cables in cross-sections AWG 22 to AWG 26 will be the first.
In the development of SPE cabling, Datwyler concentrates on complete solutions for the aforementioned areas of application, ranging from the patch panel to the faceplate. Modules and connectors are currently in preparation at Datwyler. They will be combinable with Datwyler's faceplates and 19-inch patch panels.
The data sheets of the three new SPE cable types can be found here:

In order to be able to offer an SPE portfolio for factory automation as well, Datwyler recently had the cables tested by Komax (Grafenau) for their machine processing, which is necessary for moulding the connector – with the best results. UL certification will follow shortly, as will a variant with a PUR jacket.
