Important updates on system circuit integrity
Feb 28, 2024
In general safety cables are (still) exempt from CPR classification. Despite this, over the past year Datwyler’s portfolio of low voltage and fire alarm cables with E30 to E90 system circuit integrity has been supplemented by products which have been tested in accordance with EN 50575 and have achieved a classification of B2ca-s1a,d1,a1 (conforming to EN 13501-6). The corresponding tests and classifications are required in different national standards, for example in Switzerland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Poland.
There are some advantages to installing cables with B2ca fire behaviour in escape routes and special structures: thanks to their excellent properties in the event of fire they can increase personal safety and property protection, the latter in data centres for example. Among other things this advantage is particularly valuable in view of the stringent provisions governing tunnel construction by ASTRA in Switzerland or VDS Guideline 2025 in Germany.
Declarations of performance (DoPs) must not be issued for these products. As proof, however, Datwyler can submit certificates of conformity (CoCs) from the notified bodies.
