Datwyler has developed the new CU 7724 4P flex SHF1 high-speed data cable especially for shipbuilding and offshore platform applications. This flexible category 7 cable (AWG 24/7) can reliably transmit data rates of up to 10 gigabytes per second.
The new cable features a fire-retardant, halogen-free FRNC outer sheath (SHF1). It has also been certified by the international classification and inspection institute DNV. This certificate confirms that the cable meets the strict safety and reliability requirements of the demanding maritime environment, including salt concentrations, humidity, and temperature fluctuations.
The cable has also been especially optimised for maximum data transmission performance and efficiency. It exceeds the electrical requirements of IEC 61156-6 and the requirements of the EU construction products regulation (SPR) to EN 50173-1 and EN 50288-4-2. As a flexible patch and connecting cable for Industrial Ethernet, it is suitable for installations of up to 60 metres.
This new cable complements Datwyler’s existing family of data cables for applications in the maritime sector. Thanks to their excellent characteristics, leading shipbuilders in Europe have been using the category 6A-U/FTP (AWG 23), category 7 S/FTP (AWG 23) and category 7 CU 7702 4P flex (AWG 26/7) cables for years.
