Large reserves for 10-gigabit Ethernet
New generation of RJ45 patch cords from Datwyler delivers best performance

From April onwards Datwyler is replacing tried and tested RJ45-S/FTP Category 6/EA patch cables with higher-performance S/FTP patch cables that meet all the requirements of Category 6A as laid down by the IEC and are thus ideally suited to 10-gigabit Ethernet transmissions. This change will have no impact on price for Datwyler customers. The new patch cable connectors are compatible with all RJ45 components up to Category 6A. They are fitted with an overmoulding and an anti-snag boot in the same colour as the cable sheath, and have latch protection. When using these patch cables, which are based on Category 7 flexible cables, users benefit from higher spare capacity at the limit values stipulated for Class EA cabling links (Channels).
The cables have a halogen-free flame-retardant sheath (FR/LSOH) and are available from Datwyler in many different colours. Like the previous generation, the new patch cables are in the GHMT Premium Verification Program (PVP). The appropriate certification is expected shortly.
Cabling links of at least Class EA are needed for 10-gigabit Ethernet transmission using symmetrical copper cable. Cables and connection components which "only" comply with American TIA/EIA Standard Cat.6A may actually be good enough to reach quality class EA in the Channel, but normally do not offer great spare capacity at the required limit values.
For the creation of Class EA cabling systems Datwyler recommends using future-proof shielded Category 7 or 7Adata cables in combination with Category 6A connection components which comply fully with the requirements of the international IEC standard.
