An “extraterrestrial” solution
For fibre broadband rollout in rural areas - without expensive groundwork

Excavation work represents a significant time and cost factor in broadband expansion. For a simple and cost-efficient Fibre-to-the-Home (FTTH) rollout in rural areas Datwyler has supplemented its all-in-one services with a solution which is “extraterrestrial” in the truest sense of the word.
With this “Aerial Solution”, the fibre optic cables are installed in micro-ducts on the existing telecommunication masts or power poles. Apart from cost savings and a fast rollout, the advantage of this system is that it uses the same network architecture and the same network elements (BEP, OTO, cables), and can be installed by the same firms which install the conventional overhead power or telecommunications network.
The solution comprises multi-ducts suspended from steel tape, drop ducts for connecting buildings, a branch-off duct closure, a roof entry, and various clamps, fixing components and the requisite tools. Datwyler recommends the use of its FO Outdoor Micro and S-Micro cables. These are available with 12 to 216 fibres as required.
