Westpac Bank counts on Datwyler
High-quality network for improved services

Excel I.T. installed a reliable, flexible and robust Unilan cabling solution by Datwyler at the Australian Bank´s new London headquarters.
Westpac Banking Corporation, established in 1817 as Bank of New South Wales, is Australia's leading financial institution with more than 37,000 employees and branches around the globe. In summer last year, Westpac looked for a comprehensive, modern copper and fibre-optic cabling solution for the new London headquarters situated in Camomile Street near Bishopsgate in the heart of London City. Following a competitive tender process, Datwyler was successful in securing the opportunity to provide a Unilan cabling system.
Westpac's strategic priorities are particularly centred on improving distribution and customer offerings. Therefore it was of paramount importance that the communication network within the London HQ is reliable, flexible and robust.
The bank appointed Coleman Bennett International (CBI), an experienced full I.T. design and implementation project management consultancy. "We were impressed by the delivery of product and service offered by Datwyler. Their ability to react to the ever changing demands of the project, helped ensure the project was completed within budget and timescale", says Dean Moore, CBI.
The Datwyler solution consists of 3,000 RJ45 ports over three floors, fed from three communications rooms via 100 kilometres of Category 6 copper data cable. For the comms rooms - one of these a small data centre - Datwyler also delivered OM3 multimode fibre-optic cables with LC connectors and pigtails and all necessary panels, shelfs and shutters.
The installation work was carried out by Excel I.T., a premier London based IT managed service provider for voice/data infrastructure. "We found the Datwyler cabling solution to be of great quality and very easy to work with. The Datwyler team was always on hand throughout the project, and the service could not have been better", says Nick Smith, Project Manager at Excel I.T.
