The IT trends for 2022
From AI via edge computing to “Total Experience”
Dec 15, 2021
What IT trends should businesses keep an eye on in 2022 to remain competitive in a changing world? Datwyler IT Infra sees five main technology drivers with which companies can create added value.
1. AI projects boost efficiency
In 2022 AI analysis will play an ever-increasing part in IT projects. According to Gartner by 2025 businesses now adopting an integrated approach to the operationalisation of AI models can generate at least three times as much added value from their AI projects as firms not using AI engineering. Gartner predicts that by 2025 half of all cloud data centres will work with AI-supported software robots. They say that this will boost efficiency by 30 percent.
2. The IoT boom and security
According to the German trade association Bitkom four out of ten industry companies employing 100 or more already use IoT platforms to collate data from machinery and equipment in a central location. The market researchers of IoT Analytics predict a veritable IoT boom. This growth will focus greater attention on the issue of security. When implementing secure IoT applications it is worth consulting a competent IT infrastructure specialist such as Datwyler IT Infra at an early stage.
3. Edge computing: challenge and opportunity
Edge computing provides computing capacity wherever critical data are collected – without the diversion via remotely hosted cloud infrastructures. According to a Bearingpoint survey the implementation of edge computing requirements is one of the major challenges faced by CTOs. “Edge computing brings many plus points to digital production in a smart factory,” explained Ralf Klotzbücher, Datwyler VP Sales & Marketing Europe. “IoT in combination with local edge processing helps improve business procedures, change business models and monetise data.”
4. Distributed Enterprise as a revenue driver
In businesses with several sites staff often work in geographically spread teams. Gartner predicts that organisations will have to carry out extensive technical and service changes in order to meet the expectations of colleagues. They say that those responding to this change now will profit in the long run: by 2023 around 75 percent of businesses using the advantages of distributed enterprise should be able to increase revenue faster than their competitors. The technological prerequisite is a high-performance IT infrastructure. “Partnership with an experienced IT infrastructure expert means that the technological basis badly needed for digitisation can be implemented smoothly,” advised Ralf Klotzbücher.
5. Customer and employee satisfaction
Total Experience (TX) is a business strategy which increases satisfaction, loyalty and advocacy and should therefore create competitive advantages. According to Gartner 60 percent of major enterprises want to change their business models by 2026 using TX so as to achieve first-class customer and employee satisfaction. This strategy is established practice at Datwyler: “It is our goal to improve the experience of interested parties, customers and employees in every area, and hence to keep increasing satisfaction,” emphasised Ralf Klotzbücher.
