Sustainable corporate governance

Sustainability is a central goal at Datwyler IT Infra – anchored in development, service, human resources, production and social commitment. A silver medal from the rating agency EcoVadis confirms our responsible actions regarding the environment, labor and human rights, ethics and sustainable procurement. We focus on transparency, dialogue and regional promotion.

Our path to greater sustainability

2008 | Code of Conduct

Introduction of a globally applicable code of conduct for ethical business conduct and lawful compliance, supplemented by a whistleblowing channel.

2009 | UN Global Compact

Joined the UN Global Compact, a UN initiative encompassing ten core principles on human rights, labor practices, environmental protection and anti-corruption.

2012 | Electricity from hydropower

Since 2012, the electricity at the Swiss site has come entirely from “naturemade basic”-certified hydropower plants owned by the local power company. CO₂ emissions saved: 1,500 tons of CO₂ per year.

2014 | Supplier Code of Conduct

This code of conduct commits suppliers to Datwyler’s sustainability goals. It also includes a whistleblowing channel for reporting non-compliance.

2018 | CO₂-neutral district heating

Since 2018, Datwyler in Altdorf has been sourcing its process and heating energy from a nearby wood-fired heating plant. Savings: 380,000 liters of heating oil, an additional 1,000 tons of CO₂ per year. This makes the Swiss plant CO₂-neutral.

2020 | PV system at the plant in China

The plant in Taicang commissions a PV system on the roof of the production hall, which covers 20 % of its electricity needs with around 900 MWh per year. CO₂ emissions avoided: around 550 tons. An LED lighting project increases the avoided emissions to 1,200 tons of CO₂ per year.

2020 | Goal of climate neutrality by 2030

Datwyler IT Infra aims to achieve climate neutrality for its own activities at all locations worldwide by 2030. At the same time, the consumption of resources such as heating energy, electricity and water per unit of sales is to be reduced.

2023 | Human rights risk analysis

Datwyler introduces a risk-based assessment and action process in accordance with the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights and applies it to the entire value chain. Publication of the Datwyler Human Rights Policy on the website.

2024 | Silver Medal for sustainability

For the first time, Datwyler receives a silver medal from the globally recognized rating agency EcoVadis for its commitment to sustainability, placing it among the top 15 % of over 100,000 assessed companies from 175 countries.

2024 | Certification of sustainable products in Singapore

Two of the best-selling data cables in Singapore receive the “Excellent” certificate for environmentally friendly products in the construction industry from the Singapore Green Building Council (SGBC).

2024 | Green electricity for plant in Taicang

Datwyler’s Chinese plant purchases more than 1,000 MWh of green electricity to decarbonize its energy needs. Avoidance of more than 600 tons of CO₂ emissions from conventional power generation. By 2027, energy needs are to be fully covered by green electricity.

2024 | Green Building Certificates in China

Datwyler's SMDCs are certified by the China Association for Engineering Construction Standardization (CECS) as “Green Building Energy Saving Recommended Products” and as “Recommended Products of Green & Energy-Saving”.

2025 | PV system at the Altdorf site

Datwyler commissions a facade-mounted PV system in Altdorf that will generate up to 82 MWh per year. 100 % of the generated electricity will be used internally.
